I've read them. Found them 'intriguing' I guess. Very literal interpretation of Revelation.
One or both of then, can't remember which, has a book on Revelation/End Times that's not a novel. Found it interesting as well.
i have recently started to read the series of books by tim lahaye and jerry b. jankins - its the "left behind" series of books...based loosly on the time period after the rapture... any one else ever read them?.

4horsemen someone posted a link to a sociological study on JW growth not too long ago. Lots of interesting stuff in it but one thing they mentioned specifically was that JW home ownership pretty much exactly matched that of the general public. From what I've seen the "down trodden, poverty stricken JW" thing is vastly overdone.
i was interested in the post earlier today, about how the 'emblems' were not passed to the disfellowshipped people at the memorial.. does anyone know if this is the policy now, or was it an isolated incident?.
my husband, a former elder, said he had never heard of that being done before.
but we've been gone for 4 years too.. marilyn (aka mulan).
Nope, never heard of it. Sounds like another urban legend to me.
'organized to accomplish our ministry' is now up as a downloadable document at kent's site:.
http://watchtower.observer.org/.
hugs to ((((krazykent)))) for hosting and to (((amazing))) for his inspiration!!!.
Didn't the Euless congregation set some kind of record for disfellowhsipping people?
wondered what the consensus was.
here in the uk, blair seems set to support bush in hitting iraq but there is not wholesale support in the uk.
there is some dissent in other countries.
Yeah, they need to take Sadam out. Regardless of what they say in public, most of the Arab world will be cheering in private.
It won't be that difficult. A simple decapitation strike should do most of the dirty work. Most Iraqis will be glad to see the last of the tyrant as well.
As far as the Palestinians go, the whole thing is based on myth. The West Bank was Jordanian, Gaza was Egyptian. There has never been a "Palestinian" people. You can make a pretty good case that most of them are really Jordanians. The Israelis need to wipe out the terrorist leadership and let the rest of the world make as much noise as it wants to.
how common it is in usa that a jw has a legal firearms?
i have no recollection of wtbs publications handling this matter specifically.
of course general attitude towards firearms in usa is different from europe but so is also legislation.. it is just that once being a concsientious objector i cannot, even after almost 40 years, imagine myself having one.
Not all Europeans have the same attitude toward firearms. The Swiss, for example, are very heavily armed and very pro-gun. I think there are a couple of other countries as well.
There is no prohibition on Witnesses owning handguns. Carrying one specifically for protection from people will mean that you won't have special privileges. I know that there are some places in Alaska where Witnesses carry large caliber handguns because of bears, even in the ministry.
Now that might make it interesting if someone slammed a door in their face!
in my early years of questioning wts theology and methodology in the late 70s', i was entirely on my own.
i knew that something was seriously wrong with their doctrines, but there was no internet, no discussion groups, and in my particular area of the uk, no listening ear.
in fact everybody seemed so pleasantly in love with the truth and so drawn along by collective enthusiasm that i seriously began to question my own attitudes.. sometimes i would wonder if i had gone quite mad, lost god's spirit, or had accomplished some dark deed in my past, that unknown to me was stripping me of my faith.
I'd really like to see a copy of this manual for the writing department that you're talking about, or just the section you mention. Surely with all the contacts people on this board have someone ought to be able to come up with it.
Hilary you seem familiar with it, what are some of the 'trigger' words and phrases?
i was wondering how many in here, after leaving the borg owns a hand gun for protection or learned the martials arts ?
i own a handgun.
My carry gun is a Colt .45 ACP. I say if you're going to put a hole in something, make it a big one. I like Silvertips but sometimes use backward wadcutters, can you say 'flying teacup'. Had it throated and ported so it never hangs up.
the reason i ask is that i am an avid hunter and i fish just as much.when i was going to the hall i was never discouraged to hunt or fish but i kept it to myself.it was a personal thing that i never pushed on anyone.just curious...
You bet, both. Always have.
ok, this post isn't out to prove anything, other than i've got too much time on my hands, which alot of you know that already.. over my morning coffee this morning i decided to read the section of the bible dealing with nimrod and the tower of babel.
i have two bibles at home the nwt and the new american standard.
heres what th nwt says at gen 10:9.
Earnest I believe you have hit the nail on the head. Good stuff.
